Let the " Planking " begin !!
Starting to test fit the center piece.
Slowly test fitting and sanding gradually til you get it right. There is no
short cut, this IS scratch building.
Here the finished, moistened piece has be C/A'd in place.
Another view.
I then line the edges with "Super Phatic" an Aliphatic resin glue. Aliphatic
glue has incredible seeping characteristics.
Preparing for the next piece.
I start by contouring one side the slowly sanding the other side to fit.
Slowly sanding it in.
Some pins to help hold the edges down while the " Super Phatic" works.
Usually a couple hours drying time, and leaves a rubbery type of feeling,
which can be sanded quite easily.
Note how the glue is seeping toward the area that is still damp.
The finished "block"
Another view with another " block " added. A lot of modelers would choose
to do this section using "strip planking" much like you would when building
a boat. I choose to break up the areas into "blocks" and sheet a wider area.
This is why I refer to it as "block planking"
This the next "block " to be sheeted.
